I’m a coffee drinking mom, and likely so are you! As soon as I pull into that Starbucks drive thru, my kids immediately start asking for cake pops, hot chocolate, and cookies. Heaven forbid that they learn that Starbucks sells smoothies and other sweet drinks. I am sure that this is a level of corruption that the grandparents will conspire to reach soon!
If my kids catch me in the right mood, they might get to share the occasional lemon loaf or blueberry scone, but most of the time, I am unwilling to shell out my precious Starbucks fun money on kid’s treats. (I’m on a budget, remember!) I’m not spending $10.00 on cookies or animal shaped cake. Forget that; and go straight to the freebies!
The Pup Cup!
Or you might have heard of the Puppucccino!
The Pup Cup is a simple and brilliant Starbucks invention intended for affluent visitors to pass to their dog. Because apparently if you do not have 3 kids in the back of a minivan the only other reason you need to spend so much time at Starbucks is when you are taking your dog to the local dog park. However, since it is only a cup of whipped cream, it is safe for children too!
Starbucks whipped cream. Yum! Sometimes I consider grabbing one for myself too!
My kids love the Pup Cup and are satisfied despite the frugal price tag!
We have even found some especially gifted baristas who offer to add a bit of strawberry syrup or a dash of sprinkles on top! If you are one of those baristas, hats off to you!
Thank you Starbucks for making my day a little richer and my kids a little quieter!
Pro tip: always ask for a spoon or a stir stick so the kids don’t eat it with their fingers!
Bonus pro tip: If you are spending your afternoon in a Target with a Starbucks, grab a Pup Cup and a stir stick on the way in. The stir stick and whipped cream combination keep my littles happy for at least the first 30 minutes of my Target run. That means that mommy gets to spend the first thirty minutes looking at whatever mommy wants to look at rather than up and down the toy aisle or picking snacks! It’s one of my favorite ways to spend a rainy or cold afternoon with my kiddos! Hello housewares!
