2021 Will Be Different. New Year Resolutions For Working Moms!
You did it; you made it momma. You made it through one of the wildest years on record! 2020 threw us all for a loop, and now you gladly put it in your rear view mirror.

Maybe your business failed. Maybe you are stuck in mind numbing remote conference monotony. Maybe 2020 held so many Netflix marathons and cinnamon rolls, you really enjoyed it. At any rate, you are looking to be a better you in 2021. More importantly, you are looking forward to 2021 you. The version of you that doesn’t only interrupt your couch sitting marathon with baking. The you that really does know that toilet paper hunting is not an exercise or sport.
2020 me was not so bad! I spent more time at home with my family, more nights sitting around the dinner table with my kids, and more time growing a business that I enjoy. However, I let some bad sitting around habits form, and I am looking forward to setting new goals to get me going!

So now that you know where I am starting, here are my new year resolutions. I am intentionally sharing them with you, so that maybe you share some of yours too. Or, maybe, since we are all in this together, we can share our progress as we go along or I can help you stay intentional, motivated, and accountable. Over this year, keep me accountable with reaching them, and I will attempt to share my progress as we go along.
2021 Resolution #1: Be a healthier me:

I have always enjoyed being active, but I am a self-professed sugar-holic who needs a bit of a reality check. I also need to spend a little less time sitting on the couch, so I made 2 health goals that I hope you will share with me in 2021.
- Complete Whole30 – See my daily updates beginning in February!
- Complete a timed half marathon – watch for more running posts in my Health and Fitness Section (update: Indy Mini Marathon, here I come! Run with me!)
2021 Resolution #2: Save $20,000.00.
I love being responsible with money but it takes a lot of work. I am a natural saver, but my kiddos always need something. Somehow there are always groceries to buy, medical bills to pay, and fun to be had somewhere else. Not to mention, I am a dangerous HGTV viewer. I have a list a mile long for renovations and improvements in my own home. Sadly, the list is thicker than my wallet!
My nestegg could use a little bit of padding, and I hope that 2021 will allow me the fortitude to keep that $$$ in the bank for an even rainier day than we saw in 2020.
Sound extreme, right? This is more than $1,600 per month. Right now it seems impossible, but that is one of the many reasons for sharing here! Help me reach my goal! Help me start a new business. Right now my strategy is to be consistent. To save hundreds of dollars per week, I am going to need to cut some costs, reduce some of my expectations, and stay away from Costco! Are you a Costco-holic like me?
2021 Resolution #3: Become a better mom.
Is that you? Do you long to be a better mother everyday. Do you sometimes lay your head down on your pillow wishing that you had spent a few more minutes letting your son tell you the story, wishing that you had been a little less frustrated when the juice that you knew would spill actually spilled? Do you want to spend more time with them, share more knowledge with them, and impart more wisdom? Me too.
Sadly, I often wake up the next morning reciting my Proverb for the day only to find myself yelling again before breakfast. How many times can you ask a child to put on underwear before 7:00 am?
I hope that over the next year and the years to come I will intentionally seek new and better opportunities to be a better mom to my kiddos. Hopefully I can share a few of my hard-learned lessons here with you!
I am going to try to let some of the messes go. Try to enjoy more of the noise and maybe even let my kids have some more screen time. I mean, it’s a balance, right?
I have basically stalked you all night!!!!! I am thrilled about your blog. I am a realist and especially as a working single mom, most people don’t understand my honesty and think I am to harsh at times ??♀️ And maybe so but I’m honest. Every blog I have read of yours I truly feel the same but couldn’t put my own words into it. Thank you!!! We should actually get together sometime and just chat about life, kids, careers, kids, goals, kids, and anything not to do with kids!!!! Also I am a huge fan of adoption, I have been part of 2 adoptions that have hugely impacted my life. I am so thankful for you to reach out for other people that need you!

THANK YOU! I would love it!!!!
Stay tuned for more!!!
Have you done Whole30 before? I did it a couple of years ago (I think 2018?), and it was definitely interesting! I had a lot of nausea/tummy issues, and I learned that dairy is not my friend.
No! This will be my first time. I have done a sugar fast and dairy free before, but never anything this drastic! I’m excited to try!
I am a Costco-holic ?? I’ve enjoyed reading your blogs, Micha! So excited about the whole 30 challenge for you – I will need all your favorite recipes from the month. ?
Shopping list, menus, and updates to come! Stay tuned!
